FROM SAMOA TO SINATRA has been released! A big thanks to my friends at Summit Records for making this possible. My brand new webpage devoted to the recording and the show is up and running. And for those of you new here - FROM SAMOA TO SINATRA is a new and very personal project of mine that honors the music of both Mr. Frank SInatra and my mother Mavis Rivers, whom Sinatra signed to his Reprise Records label in 1961. It can be heard regularly on SirusXM’s Siriusly Sinatra Channel, and we have performed a couple of live shows already, including sold-out performances at Herb Alpert's Vibrato Club in L.A., and Pillars Martini Jazz Club in Winter Garden (Orlando), Florida. Keep an eye out in 2024  for a return to the Vibrato Club in L.A., and appearances in Las Vegas and Honolulu!

I was also recently honored to be asked to be part of the recent Korean War Memorial concert at Carnegie Hall, where I sang I REMEMBER YOU from my FROM SAMOA TO SINATRA recording. Here is a small sample of that performance:

Speaking of SirusXM’s Siriusly Sinatra Channel many have inquired about some "other" tracks of mine that are played often on the station, and it seems a backstory is needed:

I had recorded a collection of Sinatra related songs with the intention of releasing them when I signed my deal with Concord Records in 1998. However we decided to instead celebrate George Gershwin's 100th birthday and released my recording called GERSHWIN 100, and "shelved" indefinitely the Sinatra project. In recent years however the folks at Siriusly Sinatra got wind of the existence of this shelved recording of mine and asked if they could play it on the station, and boy have they ever (thank you SiriusXM!). So as of now the tracks are listenable only on the Siriusly Sinatra channel, and are not yet available commercially. Perhaps though with the popularity of some of the tracks I may end up releasing this project from "long ago"!

And If you are a fan of THE MORNING SHOW on AppleTV+ don’t miss this scene from Episode 1, Season 2 as “Bradley & Eric” sing my arrangement of WHAT ARE YOU DOING NEW YEARS EVE with my “Hi Tech Big Band” (meaning just me, with my friend Dave Scott on Lead Trumpet). Later in the season I am on the show playing a piano player who accompanies the character Daniel Henderson. What fun!

In other news.... we are in the middle of our ELEVENTH season of Macon Pops and our next show is our Beach Bash Show on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Macon's Museum of Arts & Sciences. Please visit MaconPops.com for more details.

And now Matt is introducing his next venture: The Plant Street Pops in Winter Garden, Florida, an historic suburb of Orlando. This new entity will feature performances by a full pops orchestra, as well as a big band, to bring exciting and unique Pops styled themes and performances to Central Florida, making use of the incredible collection of musicians and performers from this talent rich Mecca.

Stay safe and healthy everybody, and I look forward to seeing all of you in-person very soon!
